What is the PassPayLater product?

PassPayLater is only available for Norwegian registered vehicles. For foreign registered vehicles, payment must be made within 48 hours after passing – alternatively by using a valid subscription purchased before passing.

PassPayLater is a product that allows you to pass without needing to take any action at the location. The vehicle’s license plate is automatically registered by cameras when passing the toll road. The vehicle owner will receive an invoice afterward and thereby also a deferred payment. PassPayLater is a paid service for customers who choose to use it and have not used other payment options.

How much does PassPayLater cost?

PassPayLater has a fixed price of NOK 39 per toll passage, paid by the road user/vehicle owner. An invoice fee of NOK 10 per invoice is also charged.

What is the difference between PassPayLater and the invoice fee?

Before April 1, 2024, part of the system costs related to customers who chose the postpaid service option were included in our invoice and administration fee.

Since the new Financial Agreements Act (Finansavtaleloven) came into effect in 2023, the Consumer Authorities (Forbrukertilsynet) has clarified, through decisions particularly in the telecommunications sector, their interpretation of § 2-4 of the act. It has become clear that only the actual costs related to issuing and sending invoices may be included in an invoice fee. This was previously somewhat unclear.

However, we know that many customers value the option of postpaid service, which is why we have chosen to continue offering this option as the product PassPayLater. The price of the product is set, among other things, to cover our specific system costs and labor involved in providing PassPayLater. The invoice fee covers our actual costs for issuing and sending an invoice related to the use of PassPayLater.
